To WordPress the blog or not???

I am considering switching my blog over to WordPress. I have been looking at the stuff WordPress has to offer and I kinda like it. WordPress has some nice security features, those seem to be drawing me to it a lot. Ans it would as be kinda fun to be able to create a more "professional" blog layout. : )

New jacket

Let me put emphasis on the statement I m about to make. I do not like to spend a lot of money on clothes. In fact I like a good bargain on anything, but today it's all about the clothes. To be honest I am being kind of cheep because I feel the need to save money because I am getting married and well, money saving is something that comes with marriage, growing up, and as my little sister would put it, "Being a big person."

Anyway, I have been thinking that I need a new jacket to add to my clothing collection. I decided that it needed to be something that I could wear with pants, a dress, and a skirt. The only catch is that it had to come to $30. Well....

I found a jacket here:
It was $42, but I got if for $19!

New Last Name

For those of you who must know I am not hyphenating my name again. It will not look like this: Kiah Ruggieri - Vande Putte - Geyense. It will however change from Ruggieri - Vande Putte to Geleynse. Shorter, but it will still be pronounced wrong. Its an improvement from Kiah Ruggieri - Vande Putte to Kiah Geleynse. Not as many letters. : )

June 25, 2011

June 25th, 2011 is the day I am getting married (did you all read that correctly? I am getting MARRIED) to my best friend Mikey. I can't wait to get married. I however am not looking forward to some aspects of wedding planning. Thank goodness I have a lot of people that have offered to help out. I am happy that Mikey and I have some time and things don't have to happen that fast.

I moved up to Bellingham to go to college for two years after some of my scholarships fell through. I didn't expect to like the area so much. I most certainly didn't expect to start dating somebody and then start planning a wedding. Glad God knows exactly what he was doing. : )

Mouse

There is a mouse in the house. I saw its nasty furry little tale around 3AM and I have been up. Because I am so considerate I waited until 6AM to call M. Naturally, he was sleeping. Naturally I do not want to fall asleep because furry dude might crawl all over me.

Update: July

In regards to my post about Corban University prayers have been answered. Jesus is so good.

An update for July because the month is happening fast. M and I are taking a trip to Santa Barbara to visit friends and family. I am so excited to have some sun, and the beach. I am doing extra homework in an attempt to have a homeworkish free week. To say the least the last couple of weeks have been crazy because I have been studying for finals and I have been trying to get ahead in my classes.

June was the last month M and I were full-time middle school small group leaders. We are still going to be involved, but it was a lot and we felt it was a good time to take a break and recharge our batteries. So from time to time we will help out with various events, and got to youth group to hang out.

After M and I get back from our trip to Santa Barbara some friends are getting married. Around the same time some more friends are coming to visit. While that is all happening I start work. I have been asked to work full-time as works allows. Pretty excited about that it means more money to put away and save for stuff in the future. Crazy fun full next few weeks.

For the most part I am excited to be started this next season of life. I can't wait to see what Jesus has planned.

Corban University Class of 2012

My college announcement is finally here. I applied to Corban University's Adult Degree Program (ADP) and I got in. Basically, I will not have to go to Corban for classes because the whole program is on-line. My projected graduation date is the end of Spring Semester 2012. It is going to take a lot of self discipline to complete the program, but I can do.

Things to Pray for Regarding Corban:
  • Pray that I will be able to graduate by Spring Semester of 2012.
  • Pray that the money that has been saved for college for me will be made available.I have decided that I am not under any circumstances going to be taking out a student loan.
  • Pray that family members will come to understand my decision.
  • Pray that I can find a job that will provide me with money that I can uses for college, to put in a savings account, and for stuff that comes up.
  • Pray that a position opens up at CTK Bellingham. I have been apart of this church for almost 2 years, and I want to work in a place that I am passionate about.
  • Pray that I learn more and more about God during this season in my life.

Over Achiever...

I am a rather big over achiever and I want to get my homework done ASAP, but its kind of hard when teacher's don't post assignments until an actual date... : ) Maybe I am supposed to actually enjoy my summer... : )

School is Over

For the next week and a 1/2 and the I start summer quarter. I am closer to the next step in my college career. This is what my computer screen looked like for most of of the day:

Fruits and Vegetables

My dad nicely reminded me today that I do not eat enough fruits and vegetables so I decided that things need to change. As of today I am challenging myself to eating a full serving of fruits and vegetables for two full weeks. If I succeed I am going to treat myself to a new dress or a swimsuit (I haven't decided). Because I am super cheep I am going to only spend $50. If I don't succeed then no dress or swimsuit. : (

  • Wakeboard (Maybe I will finally get up)
  • Go to a lot of weddings
  • Do some fun summer type stuff with M

Modesto Visit

This past week M and I went to Modesto to visit my family and see my sister graduate from high school. It was a great but short visit (5 days). I will have to post a couple of pictures after I am done with school next week.

Another thing. I know I said I would share my college announcement soon. So I am going to give you all an answer by July 1st. I know, I know. I like to keep you all in suspense... : )

Lesson Learned

This could be classified as me being stupid and not listening to other people around me, or it could be classified as me learning a lesson. I prefer to classify it as me learning a lesson.

I have a secret. I have failed a quarter of college. I was so set on taking certain classes at a certain time that I didn't listen to the other people around me and their advice. I should have. So, I am now going to have to work super hard to make-up for those classes and I am going to have to take even more classes to fill in other holes.

What I learned:

1- Other people do know what they are talking about.
2- Listen to other people around you.
3- Don't think you totally know what you are doing.
4- Many more that I can't remember. : )

Update: College for Me

Ok, So most of you might know that I am very close to graduating with my AA transfer degree from Whatcom Community College. I was talking to someone about what my next step was going to be (where I was going to go to get my 4-year degree) and Trinity Western University (Bellingham Campus) (TWU) came up. I am in the process of setting up a meeting, but I am praying that it will work out. I have always wanted the opportunity to go to a Christian school and now it looks like God has given me that opportunity.

If I were to go to TWU I would be able to work almost full-time and earn my degree. It would also be a very big help to as it would help me move onto the next stage of life. Away, I thought I would share. I will keep you updated on the next step.

What a Day...

Totally having one of those days...

You know where you really want to crawl into a nice personally sized box and not come out for a long time. My very introverted self in on overload from being around a ton of extroverted people yesterday. I would really like to find a nice room with nobody in it and stay there for the whole day. I know not very practical, so I guess I will have to get over it.

Morning and Contacts

I wear contacts and I have some funny and embarrassing stories:

For two days I could not see anything out of my left eye. The first time I thought it was because my eyes were really watery and my contact had fallen out. The second time it was because I somehow forgot to put my contact in.

I put my contact in over my other contact.

I put the wrong contact in the wrong eye.

I put my contacts in and then put my glasses.

This is what happens when you wear contacts and you have to get up early for school.

Answer to Prayer

For some time I have been praying for an opportunity to make Jesus known to a lot of people. I believe that God has given me an opportunity this quarter at Whatcom Community College. I am taking a class that goes the exact opposite of what Jesus wants and teachers for the world.

For the most part the beginning of class has been about some stuff that God does not agree with. I think God is giving me an opportunity to let others know about what God wants. I know that this class is going to be interesting, and a very good way for me to make my faith in Jesus more solid. I know I can learn about how to handle situations with these individuals in a way that I understand them so I can help them.

I am not saying it is all awesome. Its hard for me to see others that don't have Jesus in their life. Please pray for me, for the others in my class. Pray that I can be a witness to others with my faith in God. Pray that others will have their their hearts open to hear about Jesus.

Mission Trip

For the longest time I haven been interested in going on a mission trip. Recently, I have learned about Amor Ministries and I am praying that I am able to go on a mission trip sometime in the future. (Actually, I came upon it because it was mentioned in somebody's blog and then I was talking to Mike and apparently he went on a mission trip with Amor in college). I want to go with my future husband, because I think it would be a great learning experience for us as a couple. It would also be great to go by myself because I would learn a lot. Anyway, I hope and pray that God has it in His plan for me to go on a mission trip in the future.

Casting Crowns Concert

So Casting Crowns is coming to Lynden, WA this summer. More specifically, they are coming for the Northwest Washington Fair.

It will be my first concert and it is going to be less then 30 miles from where I live. I can't wait, this summer is going to great.

So, now that we are on the subject of summer. I think I am going to be able to take classes this summer and transfer to Western Washington University for winter quarter. I would be taking off fall quarter to work at Donette Studio. I hope that it works out, but that's totally up to God.

It's rather amazing what happens when you hand things totally over to God. : )

School Confessions... : )

I started Spring Break on Wednesday (24th) and I need to point out that I am a nerd. I got this spiral bound notebook and it has different colored pages. So, I get to have different colored pages for my different classes. : )

I also like school, because I get to buy new books and read them. New packs of 3x5 cards are also nice. For the most part I like school. There are times when I don't like school at all and I would rather be doing other things.

Finals Week... The Full Effects

I haven't put pictures up in a long time so I thought I might grace my blog with a couple of pictures that show what finals really to do college students... :)

OK, OK I took the pictures when I should have been studying (AKA it was an honest study break.

Also, I realize that I am putting these up on the internet were most everybody can see. Please note if you want to use the pictures there to blackmail me for any reason later in the future that they were taken with my webcam so they are not high quality so they will be grainy. :)

Funny/ Bad Dream

A couple of nights ago I had a dream.

I dreamed that I was getting married and as my groom and I were leaving for the honeymoon my dress got caught in the door of the red Mustang Convertible. As we where waving to all our friends and family (aka the people that stay behind and help clean-up) we just pretended that nothing was wrong.

However...

It became a problem. We arrived at our hotel we were going to be spending the night in before we left for our honeymoon and I had to get out of the car. Only problem was that somehow my dress was really, really stuck in the door. We tried everything to get it unstuck. The only solution was for me to get out of my dress in-front of the hotel so that we could open the door.

Great dream...

When I had the dream I woke-up having way too many thoughts running through my brain. So, for my wedding day I hope that it does not happen and if it does happen my groom and I will be able to fix the problem with the smallest amount of embarrassment. I possible. I also hope that I don't have to worry about car color. : )

School Sucks

I go to school today thinking that it will be a good day. "good day" as in I would not get lost in whatever we are learning in class. Didn't happen. For the whole class it felt like the teacher was looking at me and wait for me to do something wrong. I will learn something in class understand it, go home read about it, go back to class and have no idea what I just learned. It really frustrates me because its like looking at something totally new. However, the stuff that I am looking at is not new rather its a few days old. Yes, I read by books in between classes. I honestly don't know what is wrong. I will look at a book for the longest time read and re-read many times and I have no idea what is being said. Then if there is the slim chance that I know what is being said I get it switched around. Awesome, it is now going to take me forever to graduate from college.

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

Class Canceled

Now most college students might be overjoyed that classed got canceled. I however am not. I cannot go back to my dorm room and sleep. I live 20-30 minutes from Whatcom Community College. I would rather spend the morning burning my ever precious brain cells in Physics (class that got canceled). If would be kinda pointless for me to go home because by the time I get all settled in I would have to leave for my next class. If I were at home I would still be sleeping and I would not be trying to keep my eyes open.

On the plus side, I do have a ton of time to do my homework, waste time on the computer, and write my testimony that I am going to most likely be sharing at Flipside in the next couple of weeks.

Annoyed

I bought a dress at Old Navy I thought it was going to be long enough. However, I put the dress in the wash and it shrank to a length that it too short to wear unless I am wearing pants, capris or long shorts. Awesome. I thought that I had just purchased this super cute dress that I was going to be able to wear doing the summer to a wedding, and out on a casual date. Apparently, not. It has now been determined that I will be purchasing all my dresses from the Old Navy tall section online so that my dress are a good length (as it I will be able move around comfortably without having to worry).

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Dressing... Modestly

I was recently at Old Navy with Mike. After Mike was done looking around I went to go look at dresses and shorts. I was kinda excited to look at shorts and dresses because it means spring/ summer is getting a little bit closer. I was excited to try on this dress:

I was excited because I could wear the dress with a long-sleeve shirt, a short-sleeve shirt, and a tank-top. I could also wear the dress with capris or long pants. I then decided to look at the length of the dress because it might be nice to wear the dress by itself as a summer dress. Then it happened. The dress was too short. OK, its not like the dress was way way short, but when I buy a dress I want to be able to bend over and not worry about stuff.

Then I tried the shorts on:

The shorts are on the shorter side. I honestly don't mind wearing shorts that show a little bit of leg, but this was too much. The shorts were long enough when I put them on, but they are going to shrink in the wash.

I like shopping but it puts me in a very bad mood when the clothes that I want to wear are too short or show too much skin. So, I usually shop on-line for clothes where they offer clothes in talls (they offer more coverage), or I layer.

College Student

A couple of weeks ago I had a paper that was due. The rough draft was due to be exact. Being like most college students did I start writing the paper a week before it was due? Nope. Did I start writing it a day before it was due? Not a chance. I started writing the paper 1 1/2 hours before it was due. The paper had to be a minimum of 750 words. I got the paper done in an hour and 15 minutes. 760 words with MLA format. I call that a very good day of college as opposed to my day of tripping adn the other day of me getting kicked out of class.

Shoe Lace

A couple of weeks ago I was walking to class and my shoe lace got caught in the stairs. First thing to point is: My shoes were tied. things like this happen all the time to me.

Friday, February 12, 2010

Physics

Apparently I walk around Whatcom with a target on my back. I honestly don't know what I do but my physics teacher really doesn't like me. I was in class today and my cell phone goes off. OK, OK I know bad but I am the only person that has gotten kick-out of class. Other people's phones have gone off and she doesn't do anything. Its like she wants to see me fail. Why me? Am I an easy target?

Thursday, February 11, 2010

Dance Recital

I don't mind my dance class. Its not that bad that I have to play some slightly embarrassing games in class because most of the students in my class are in 4th and 5th grade, maybe put to 7th grade. It bad when the teacher says that for the spring dance recital we are going to be dancing to a Veggie Tales song. Please keep in mind that this is going to be in public on a stage.

This is going to be horrible. I am 20 years old. I do not want to dance to a Veggie Tales song in PUBLIC!!!!

My Birthday Present

It was my birthday yesterday (February 6th) and I got flowers from Mike.

Saturday, February 6, 2010

Giving Gifts

I really like giving gifts, its a ton of fun. Small problem... I am horrible at keeping secrets. As in I will get somebody a gift and A) The person getting the gift guesses what I am getting them B) I get to excited and give the gift early C) My big fat mouth blabbers what gift I am getting. Most of the time its a combination of a couple.

Transfering to Western

I just finished a meeting with the transfer adviser at Whatcom Community College and I may be able to transfer to Western Washington University...

Are you all ready for it? no really are you?

WINTER QUARTER!!!

I am super happy as I thought I was almost 1 year behind in credits. I don't know for sure if it is 100% Winter Quarter but its looking like it. I will be keeping you all updated.

Either way I am very excited to be moving on in life. I am excited to being 1-step closer to graduating from college. I am 1-step closer to the Real World (slightly scary, but at the same time cool). I am excited and scared as to what God has planned for me (but excited mostly).

I have been praying to God that He give me peace and some type of understanding about college and He gave me the best answer.

"If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord." James 1:5-7

OK, to be honest at times I question God. Bad, idea considering He knows exactly what He is doing. Something to work on.

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

My Day- Wednesday

I wake up early (OK, it was only 5 minutes early)

I print out my lab for my physics class that the teacher has not gotten 3 times in a row. This is my third try to get it turned it.

I leave the house with my backpack and laptop. However, I forget my lab. I now have to go back inside and get it.

I get to school and park no other problems.

I start walking to my first class (physics) my laptop case breaks... again... 3ed time this quarter. Something else that I will need to buy. great

While I am walking up the stairs to physics my shoe lace gets stuck in the stairs. Honestly, who in the world gets their shoe lace stuck in the stairs? I now and the proud owner of an extra bump on my right knee.

At this point I am considering going back home and crawling into bed and not coming out for a pretty long time and the day isn't even 1/2 over.

Economics Chapters 1-3/ Weeks 1-3 Review

Chapter 1- The Study of Economics (3- 34)

Capital- Physical aids to the production process. (factories, machinery, and tools)
Ceteris Paribus- Other things being equal. Assumption that other variables remain constant.
Cost Benefit Analysis- Comparison of cost and benefits.
Economics- The study of how to use our limited resources to satisfy our unlimited wants as fully as possible.
Economic Resources- The scarce inputs used in the process of creating goods or providing a service. (Land, Labor, Capital, entrepreneurship)
Economic Theories- Generalizations about causal relationships between economic factors, and variables.
Entrepreneurship- Combining land, labor, and capital to produce cost effective ways to earn a profit. Most be willing to take risks.
Free Trade- Trade that is not hindered by artificial restrictions or trade barriers of any type.
International Economics- The study of international trade and finance. (Why nations trade and how it’s financed)
Labor- Mental and physical work of those employed in the production process.
Land- All the natural resources/ raw material used in the production process.
Law of Increasing Cost- As more of a specific product is produced the more it costs. Opportunity cost per unit will increase.
Macroeconomics- The study of economics as a whole and how to influence economy’s total performance.
Normative Judgment- Value judgments about what should be, rather then what is.
Opportunity Cost- The best/ most valued, alternative that is sacrificed when a particular action is taken.
Production Possibilities Curve- Curve that shows a combo. of goods that an economy can produce w/ its present stock of economic resources and present way of production.
Theories- Generalizations about the relationship w/ fact or variable.
Law of Increasing Cost- As a product is produced you have to use resources that are not easy for an economy to produce then it cost more to produce a unit of that product.
Three Fundamental Questions-
What to produce?
How to produce?
For whom to produce?
Five Economic Goals
1- Full Employment of Economic Resources
2- Efficiency
3- Economic Growth
4- A Far Distribution of Income
5- A Stable Price Level

Chapter 2- Economic Systems (35- 63)

Capitalism- An economic system in which the means of production are privately owned and fundamental economic choices are made by individual buyers and sellers interacting in markets.
Elements of Capitalism
1- Private Property and Freedom of Choice
2- Self- Interest
3- Markets and Price
4- Competition
5- Limited Government Intervention
Command Socialism- An economic system in which the means of production are publicly owned and the fundamental economic choices are made by a central authority.
Elements of Command Socialism
1- Public Ownership: EVERYTHING is owned by the public.
2- Centralized Decision Making: All economic decisions are made by a central authority. The central authority is also in charge of making sure that the decisions are carried out.
3- Economic Planning: Central Authority (central planning board) gathers a lot of information about various economic aspects and draws up a master plan concerning the best choices.
4- Allocation by Command: Resources and products are allocated by directive or command and the central authority used its power to enforce these decisions.
How Command Socialism Answers The Three Questions (Page 47)
- The answers to the 3 fundamental questions are decided by the central planning board. The central planners can select any output targets, any mix of products within limits set by the economy’s productions capacity.
1- What To Produce-
2- How To Produce- The central planners must try to stretch the economy’s limited resources as far as possible.
3- For Whom To Produce-

Common Property Resources- Resources that belong to society as a whole rather then to particular individuals.
Consumer Sovereignty- An economic condition in which consumers dictate which goods and service will be produced by business.
Economic Systems- The set of institutions and mechanisms by which a society provide answers to the three fundamental questions.
Household- A living unit that also functions as an economic unit. Whether it consists of a single person or a large family, each household has a source of income and responsibility for spending the income.
Invisible Hand- A doctrine introduced by Adam Smith in 1776 holding that individuals pursuing their self-interest will be guided (as in by the invisible hand) to achieve objectives that are also in the best interest of society as a whole.
Laissez Faire Economy- An economy in which the degree of government interventions is minimal.
Market- All actual or potential buyers and sellers of particular items. Markets can be international, national, regional, or local.
Means of Production- The raw materials, factories, farms, and other economic resources used to produce goods and services.
Mixed Economy- Economies that represent a blending of capitalism and socialism. All real- world economies are mixed economies. (Page 49)
Reasons For a Mixed Economy
1- Public Ownership of the Means of Production
2- Government Decision Making
Pure Competition- A situation in which a large number of relatively small buyers and sellers and interact.
The Circular Flow of Pure Capitalism- Look at page 39
How Capitalism Answers the Three Fundamental Questions-
1- What to Produce: Because consumers can spend what they want producers need to make what consumers want.
2- How to Produce: How to make the product the cheapest way. Weather it be using machines, or people whichever way costs less.
3- For Whom to Produce- You have to decide who to produce the products for and how much the money they are willing to pay.

Chapter 3- Demand and Supply: Price Determination in Competitive Markets

Change in Demand- An increase or decrease in the quantity demanded at each possible price, caused by a change in the determinants of demand; represented graphically by a shift of the entire demand curve to a new position.
Change in Quantity Demanded- An increase or decrease in the amount of a product determined as a result of a change in its price, with factors other then price held constant; represented graphically by movement along a stationary demand curve.

I ditched school for... Quiet Time

I ditched school for...
Some much needed high quality quiet time with Jesus. Lately my brain has been scatter. I don't think my heart has really been in the right place either. I have been letting thing get in the way. So I ditched one of my classes that I could miss and had some Jesus time.

Leftovers

Mike and I ordered dinner and then picked it up from New York Pizza (its close to Mike's house)on Tuesday night. I ordered Fettuccini Alfredo with Shrimp. I had leftovers. I left them Mike's house. Really bad idea. Will I see my leftovers before Mikey's bottomless pit of a stomach decided it just "has to have" my Fettuccini Alfredo with Shrimp? Who knows? I would like to eat my leftovers but if not I am sure Mikey's stomach will like my mistake... : )

Stuff

I am not a very loud person. A a result it is a very big thing for me to step out of my comfort zone and lead a Bible study for the 8th grade girls. Its not like a step out of my comfort zone its like a country block out of comfort zone.

In small group my girls will ask me questions and I know the answers to them but of course I can't remember the answer at the moment when I need to know it. I remember the answer like 10 minutes.

Also, Flipside is totally out of my comfort zone so its all a challenge. But I am so glad that I am doing it because I got to meet Mike and its also a very big Jesus type challenge.

At times I feel like I don't make a difference. I feel like there are others around me doing a waaaay better job. OK, I know that its a big bucket full of junk and I am making a difference.

I like to blend in. But I also want to have my own "stamp." However, I find this really hard because I am too regular. Also a bunch of junk.

Apparently, I am having a middle school moment of feeling really insecure.

Quiet Time

Bible Verse For Thought:
“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10

What I Get From 1 Peter 4:10:
God created each and every one of us uniquely. There are no two humans alike. Sure, there may be two humans that are very similar. But, God took the time to create each and everyone in a unique manner so there is no possibility that God would make two people the same. While God was thinking of us He gave each of us “gifts” or skills. Usually, when a person receives a gift they want to use that gift to some extent. However, when a person receives a gift from God they should want to use the gift from God to its fullest extent. In other words, God has given us each skills and talents and we need to use those God given gifts! It can take time to figure what gifts God has given us but it is worth it to try to figure out what your God given gifts are.

Praying For…
My future husband: I pray that my future husband is always working to honor God while using the gifts that God has given a lot of us.

Madsteeze: I pray that lots of middle school students fall for Jesus. I pray that the students that don’t know Jesus come to know Him. I pray that students that do know Jesus want to learn more about Jesus.

Haiti- I pray that the situation in Haiti comes to know Jesus and what Jesus can do.

Babies- I know a lot of people that are going to be having babies. I pray that these women commit to raising their child in a Christ- centered home.

Adoption- There are a ton of kids that do not have forever families. I pray that more and more kids will find forever families.

D-Group (Middle School Bible Study)- I am nervous as heck to start D-Group. Let me just say leading an outside Bible Study is not my style at all. I am not a very loud person. For D-Group I will have to take charge of a group of middle school students for an hour and fifteen minutes.

Classes

I have a strong disliking towards my economics and physics class. Econ because the teacher makes me feel stupid, gives a lot of different assignments, and makes it hard to complete the assignments when they are formatted wrong.

Physics because I do not like math or science. Let me just say thins. I would rather read and write a 7 page paper.

I know that thee classes are necessary to make me into a "well rounded" college educated graduate. But really. When is an English major going to have to know a lot of the stuff that I am learning. I know that I am going to use some of the stuff that I am learning but honestly...

I pray that I can just get through college in five years. I am going to be a super senior. : ) After I get my degree don't even think about asking me if I am going to go to grad school (super small possibility).

OK, that's it. I am done telling everybody me feeling about my college classes at the moment.

Quiet Time AKA Jesus Time/ Last & This Week

Things that happened last week:

I signed Mike and I up for the pre-engaged class at church. Now, just so that we are clear Mike and I are not engaged. We are hoping and praying that we will get engaged in the future.

I cleaned. Not a lot but a bit.

Things that are going to happen this week:

Madsteeze. Middle School church camp. An awesome fun weekend of little sleep, Jesus, and friends. We are going with Timberlake Church and we are going to be in Levenworth, WA.

Homework. It happens all the time but I thought I would list. It is very important that teachers explain things well so that students don't break down in tears and finally complete the assignment with a lot of help.

And now onto the most important part of my day: Quit Time: AKA Jesus Time

Right now I am reading Proverbs 31 and I must say what a powerful chapter. It makes me think of how much hard work it is to be married and to have a family. I know that it is rewarding (that's what many people say).

"Her husband has full confidences in her and lacks nothing of value." 31:11

I think that this portion is pretty cool. It shows that her husband supports her, believes her, and is her biggest fan. He knows that she can do things that maybe she thinks she can't do. The "wife of noble character" never has to worry about her husband not loving her because of a decision she makes, there is total and complete unconditional love.

"She is clothed with strength and dignity: she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue." 31:26-26

The strength and dignity part is something that I am working on. Also, the laughing at the days to come part, and the wisdom part. Some of the character traits may come a bit more easy to some people then other people. I think the verse means that her life, and home are run with strength and dignity. The laughing part may have to do with being able to let things roll of her back.

Items that I pray for:

My future husband. I pray that he love God with everything possible. I pray that he will put God first over me (future wife). I pray that he wants a Christ-centered marriage and wants to grow in his knowledge of Jesus. I started praying for my future husband the minute I started making dating standards priority. Its pretty amazing that God knows who I am going to marry, when I am going to marry him, and when/ where we are going to meet.

Madsteeze. A super awesome weekend of not much sleep, Jesus, and bonding with 8th grade girls. To be honest I am not looking forward to sleeping into tents, and no showers. But I am looking forward to spending time with Jesus, bonding with the group of 8th grade girls that are in my small group, and eating Costco muffins. : ) I pray that I learn more about Jesus and how to be a good small group leader.

The future. This one may be a little different for some considering that Jesus knows what He is doing (Jeremiah 29:11). I pray that I will continue to do what God has planned for me.

Haiti. A lot is going on there. I pray that Jesus becomes apparent in everything that happens.

Adoption. There are a lot of orphans in the world that need forever Christ-centered families.

Relationships. The relationships that I have I pray that God will give me the time, energy, and strength to have Jesus be the center of those relationships.

Thank you. Thank you Father that you found a class for Mike and I to take. I am excited and nervous . I know that the class will be a challenge, it will have us both take a look at many different items that are important in a relationship. The one thing I do know is that after the class Mike and I will maybe understand each other a little bit better, learn how to improve our relationship, and Mike and I will learn how to become closer to You.

How To Watch Football

How To Watch Football:
  • With your eyes closed.
  • Facing the back of the couch.
  • With your face half stuffed in a pillow.
  • Stretched over the WHOLE couch. (With no room for me to sit) : ( Totally kidding, well kind of... : ) I don't mind sitting on the floor. Its a better place to do homework. (You know, next to a table)
  • With your eyes open.
While I do homework and attempt to fill out my FAFSA Mike is on the couch "watching" football. Apparently you can watch football doing many of the things listed in "How To Watch Football." : )

Friday January 15,2009 11:15AM

Currently, I am sitting at the downtown library. In between today's morning craziness I went to Target and bought some Claritin-D. I am really liking the effects Claritin-D has. I can now go from almost 10 minutes without sneezing, coughing, or blowing my nose. Its a very happy day. : )

I really like to see the results of God answering prayer. Mike and I were looking for a Bible Study or a class for us to take together. We have been looking for a Bible Study or a class because we think its important to have some way that we are growing spiritually, and in our knowledge of each other as a couple. At Flipside out youth pastor came up to us and said, "Pretty soon our church is going to start a class for people that are thinking of getting engaged or are engaged. You should think of maybe taking it." I hope that we can do it because it would be great for us to have a couple mentoring us and helping us along with the process.

Jeremiah 29:11

Jeremiah 29:11 is I guess what you would call one of my "life verses." By life verse I mean a verse that has really captured my attention. Granted the Bible is a pretty awesome group of books. But this verse stands out. It is talking about how God knows exactly what He is doing and He does not want to hurt us. He just wants us to be strong men and women of God. The whole future thing is pretty cool. I mean is it not amazing that God knows exactly what is going to happen to us. I think its pretty neat that God knows who we are going to marry, how many kids we are going to have, what we are going to do and when all the stuff is going to happen.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Blessed

I am so blessed to be dating someone who has a lot of the same moral and values. I am blessed because this person also has a super big heart for God. I am also blessed because this person is willing to go through the different trials/tests that God is giving me.

Roses From Mike

I got some roses from Mike. a red and a white rose to be exact. With the red rose I took some pictures of it with my purity ring.

Did I mention that I really like flowers and it was a lot of fun to get some roses? If I remember correctly this is the first res rose that got from Mike.

2010

I think 2010 is going to bring about a lot of fun and new changing things. I also think the things that started in 2009 that are going to be carried on into 2010 are going to be awesome.

Started in 2009:
My relationship with Mike. It started in 2009 and I can't wait to see what God has planned for us as a couple.

School. The process is still ongoing and crazy. I still have 2 and maybe 1/2 years of college left. I am to the point where I just want to graduate and get on with life. I am sure that many college students feel that way, but I get super excited to see what God has planned. I suppose that I also need to calm down and just enjoy the moment because it only happens once.

Flipside. For the past couple of months Flipside has really stretched me. I like working with middle school girls but has God ever stretched me. I am not a super loud person. With Flipside, I take command of the situation. I have to lead a outside small group (discipleship group). Its a stretch for me because I don't like being the center of attention. At our regular youth group I have my own small group. I was supposed to have a co-leader but the group got too big. I am not a loud person it stretches me.

Being me. I realize that this may seem like a really interesting title. I am still getting used to being an adult. I come from a house where I was very limited in the decisions that I could make. I am adjusting to being expected to make my own decisions.

2010:
I pray that my relationship with Mike with keep growing stronger. I pray that we will keep learning how to keep God in the middle of the relationship. I also pray that God will shine through in all of my relationships.

School. Once again I want to get the whole school process over with. I really need to concentrate.

Ministry. It is super important to serve somewhere. I would really like to find a ministry that I feel that I am doing a good job at. I know that doing things is not always about being comfortable.

A job. I want to find a job that will have me making enough money so that I can start putting some of that money away for stuff later.

A vacation. I think it would be tons of fun to go to Mexico, Hawaii, or San Diego for a vacation.

Mission trip to China. I want to go spend some time with Show Hope (Steven Curtis Chapman's adoption grant foundation) at an orphanage playing with kids.

I like to serve my friends and family. I want to keep doing that and have more opportunities to do so.
